Loyann Hartzer

Loyann J. (Taylor) Hartzer, age 79, of rural Wauneta, Nebraska passed away September 10, 2022 at the Sarah Ann Hester Memorial Home in Benkelman, of natural causes. Loyann was born April 2,1943 in McCook, Nebraska to Lloyd and Ann (Miller) Taylor. She attended Culbertson Public School and McCook Community College. She worked in Denver, Colorado before marrying Gaylin Hartzer of rural Wauneta on July 22, 1962. Loyann was a farmer's wife, actively involved in the farming operation while raising her family. She was involved in the Wauneta community as a member of the Rebekah's Lodge, the Wauneta Extension Club, and a pinochle card club. She served on the election board and as a Wauneta school board member from 1988-1996. She was also a school bus driver for nearly 40 years. She was a great cook, loved playing cards, routinely beating Gaylin at gin, and visiting with her grandchildren. Loyann Hartzer is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gaylin Hartzer of Wauneta; four children: Gaylin Hartzer Jr of McCook, Lorrie (Mike) Hofstetter of Daykin, Nebraska, Phillip (Loretta) Hartzer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Kris (Chelle) Hartzer of Lawrenceville, Georgia. There are also eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Taylor and Ann (Miller) Taylor Rieger; step-dad, Carl Rieger; parents-in-law, Willis Hartzer and Inez (Cross) Hartzer; and brother, Doug Taylor. Cremation was chosen and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Hermann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook at 10:30AM on Friday morning, September 16, 2022 with Pastor Alisa Parde officiating. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, will be given to the Wounded Warriors Project (Wounded Warrior Project - Donate) in Loyanns name. There will be a luncheon at the McCook Methodist Church after the memorial service. Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com.
