Loren Leroy Egle, 87, died Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Kinship Pointe in McCook, Nebraska.

Loren was the eldest child born to Robert and Esther (Hahn) Egle. He was born on a farm four miles northwest of Stratton, Nebraska on November 9, 1938. At an early age, the family moved to the Egle Farm in the Eden Precinct, north of Stratton. He attended a one-room Eden District 54 country school and graduated from Wauneta, Nebraska High School in 1957. He then graduated from McCook College in 1959, where he met his future bride, Pat Sramek.

Loren and Pat were married on September 1, 1959, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in McCook, Nebraska. They lived in Wauneta for a time and Loren drove truck for Wayne Smith and Ron Acton. Later, Loren and Pat moved out to the Eden community where they farmed and raised their family. They taught their children the importance of a good education and instilled in them a strong work ethic.

Loren was involved in his community by serving on the Stratton School Board, Hitchcock County Fair Board, and the Hamlet Co-op Board. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus.

Later, when the kids were older, Loren started a couple of partnerships with his sons, Egle Trucking and Egle Harvesting. He thoroughly enjoyed taking his crew from Texas to North Dakota, cutting wheat all summer and then harvesting corn, beans, and sunflowers in the fall. Loren never knew a stranger and enjoyed visiting with everyone he met throughout the states he traveled in. He loved his John Deere green and spent his recreational time fishing. He loved being out on the lake whether it was covered in ice or on open water.

Loren and Pat moved to Stratton in 1997. After retiring, he spent every day possible on his boat fishing. He and Pat also enjoyed going on cruises and traveling around the world. In 2025, they sold their home in Stratton and moved to Kinship Point in McCook, Nebraska.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Esther Egle and his in-laws, Joe and Freda Sramek.
