Lola Joan Diederich

October 13, 1933 — December 30, 2021

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Lola Joan Diederich on December 30th 2021. Lola was born on October 13, 1933 in Leoville, Kansas to Margaret (Madge) and William Kaus and departed this life in McCook, Nebraska at the age of 88. She went peacefully with her daughter Carol and grand daughter Heather by her side. Lolas parents moved around a lot when she was in school because of her fathers jobs. She spent her younger years watching her siblings, babysitting, and cooking for harvest crews. She was married June 11, 1953 to the love of her life Merlin Diederich. To this union 5 children were born: Stephen Charles, Sharon Kay, David Jon, Ronald Ray, and Carol Ann. Lola spent her entire life caring for her family & friends. She loved to cook for her family and Im sure it was always a challenge to feed 7 every meal. Nothing was more important to her than her family. Lola & Merlin started their married life in North Carolina while Merlin was in the Army. Then they moved to McPherson, Kansas and then Boulder, Colorado where they finished raising their children. She managed and worked in a carpet shop along side Merlin. They bought a home in North Fort Myers, Florida and McCook, Nebraska after retirement and became snowbirds. Lola was preceded in death by her parents Margaret & William Kaus, brothers Jim Kaus and Bill Kaus, sister Velma Neff, son-in-law Steve Young, and husband Merlin Diederich. Lola is survived by her brothers Joe Kaus, Tom Kaus, & Alvin Kaus, children Steve (Marilyn) Diederich, Sharon (Beatle) Koch, Dave (Cheri) Diederich, Ron (Dawn) Diederich, & Carol Young (Jim Howard), 12 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Lolas wishes were to be cremated and join the love of her life Merlin in their next life. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
