Lloyd 'Bud' Bennett Keenportz

Lloyd Bennett "Bud" Keenportz, age 85, formerly of McCook, NE, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the Beaver City Manor in Beaver City, NE. He was born September 18, 1937 in Dodge City, Kansas to Lloyd and Lena Keenportz. Bud graduated from Dodge City High School in 1956. After graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Judith Ann Anderson. They were married on August 15, 1956. They made their home in Dodge City, Kansas, where they started their family. During this time in Dodge City, Bud held many sales positions. He enjoyed selling Coca-Cola and during this time he worked for John Pressney Enterprises at the sugar warehouse. In 1976 he made his career with Cornbelt, which brought his family to McCook, NE. During his McCook years he worked off and on at Cornbelt and RSA Microtech. One of the highlights of living in McCook was owning and operating Barbes Marina at the Red Willow Lake. Bud was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church. He was a Deacon and held various other positions in the church. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his kids. As he grew older his hobbies included wood working, coin, gun, and various other antique collecting. Other hobbies that Bud enjoyed were smoking meat, barbecuing, and passing that love onto his sons and grandsons. Grandpa Bud was a grandpa to everyone including the staff and friends at the Beaver City Manor in Beaver City, NE, where he spent the last two years of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his three sisters and brothers in law, one infant son, Lloyd Keenportz, and one infant granddaughter, Haley. He is survived by his children, Brian Keith of McCook, NE, Jon Bruce and wife, Gina of Beaver City, NE, Rebecca Ann of McCook, NE, Brent Wayne and wife, Tracy of Grand Island, NE. Grandpa Bud has eight grandchildren who he loved and adored: Steven, Jon, Zach, Jesse and Makayla, Josh and wife Darcie, Mekenzie and husband Roman, Hannah and Nathan, Myah and Alec. He has three great granddaughters, Olivia, Hadley, and Jade; three great grandsons, Jacob, Bently, and Cordell. Visitation will be Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 5:00pm-7:00pm with family present. Funeral services will be Friday, December 9, 2022 at 11:00am at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel, McCook, with Mike Roth officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park, McCook.
