Lewis Junior Parks was born February 1, 1934 in Norton Kansas and passed away May 6, 2017 at the age of 83. Lewis was the 4th child born to Rex Senior Lewis Parks and Caroline Zelda (Moss) Parks. The family moved from Norton to Cambridge Nebraska when Lewis was a young boy and he attended Cambridge Schools. On May 28th, 1954 he was united in marriage to Irma Marie Foster in Cambridge. In 1956 he was drafted into the Army and completed basic training at Fort Carson Colorado. He was transferred to Fort Chaffee Arkansas and then to Fort Niagara New York where he was honorably discharged in 1958. After his discharge the family then moved to McCook Nebraska in 1960, where he spent the remainder of his life. Lewis worked for Ideal Truck lines for over 30 years and retired at 62 years old. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and later a member of the West First Chapel. He gave his heart to the Lord and enjoyed making and giving out pocket crosses to whomever he met. This was his ministry and touched the heart of many. He also enjoyed camping and fishing as well as traveling in the familys motor home. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents Rex and Caroline, daughter Connie Sue, granddaughter Samantha Jo Parks, brothers Milo Rex Parks, Vernon Clifford and George William Parks and two sisters Beveline Rose Bivens and Goldie Ruth Peaslee. Lewis and Irma were blessed with four children, three daughters and a son. Connie Sue Parks, Barbara Jean Parks, Gary Lee Parks and Vickie Lynn Ortiz. He is survived by his wife Irma Marie Parks of McCook; children, Barbara Jean Parks, Gary Lee (Sandra) Parks, Vickie Lynn (David) Ortiz all of McCook; seven grandchildren, Kristina Renae (Lee) Oreskovich of Omaha Nebraska, Nathan Lee (Katie) Parks of Omaha Nebraska, Jenny Lyn (Wayne) Cook of McCook, Amy Dawn Lukas of Kansas City Kansas, Jessica Faye (Matthew) Beschnett of Kansas City Kansas, Matthew David Ortiz of Salina Kansas, Kelsey Jane Ortiz of Garden City Kansas; five great-grandchildren, Addysen Lanae Oreskovich, Chandler Lee Oreskovich, Tripp Wayne Allen Martinez, Orin Matthew Ortiz and Faye Lucille Beschnett. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Caroline; daughter, Connie Sue; granddaughter, Samantha Jo Parks; brothers, Milo Rex Parks, Vernon Clifford and George William Parks; and two sisters Beveline Rose Bivens and Goldie Ruth Peaslee. Funeral Services will be at the West 1st Chapel in McCook on Friday May 12th, 2017, 10:30 a.m. with Johnny Walker officiating. A luncheon will follow the service.
