Leslie James Sides

Leslie Les James Sides of Bartley passed away suddenly at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha on Sunday, June 26, 2016. He was 58 years old. Les was born on February 6, 1958, at McCook, Nebraska to parents, Eldon Francis and Joan Kathryn (Kohmetscher) Sides. He attended Republican Valley School. On February 9, 1980 he was united in marriage to Tammy Sue Tomlin in Florence, Colorado. They made their home near Bartley where they raised their two children. Les was a self-employed truck driver. He would haul anything from grain to rocks. When Les was not driving his truck you could find him in his shop often welding or doing mechanic work. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and most of all spending time with his family especially his grandsons. Preceding him in death was his father, Eldon Sides; maternal grandparents, John and Dorothy Kohmetscher and paternal grandparents, Melvin and Pearl Sides; and father-in-law, Ken Tomlin. Survivors include his wife, Tammy Sides of 36 years of Bartley; son, Eric Sides of Bartley; daughter, Jody (Brian Lytle) of McCook; mother, Joan Sides of Indianola; two brothers, Mike Sides ( Marsha) and Pat Sides ( Janice) all of Bartley; two grandsons, Gage and Easton Lytle of McCook; mother-in-law, Peggy Tomlin of Papillion; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in his name for his grandsons education fund. Visitation will be Friday, July 1. 2016 at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel from 9:00 a.m. until time of rosary which will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friends may go online at www.herrmannfh.com to extend condolences to the family. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherines Catholic Church in Indianola with Father Dan Rayer as Celebrant.
