Leroy Jaggers of McCook, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Hillcrest Nursing Home surrounded by his family. He was 82 years old. LeRoy was born on April 24, 1933, at Clarksville, Arkansas to parents, Granville Clyde and Vola (Davis) Jaggers. He graduated from Hartman High School in 1950. He continued his education at College of the Ozarks, Clarksville, Arkansas and received his Masters Degree from Oklahoma State, Stillwater, Oklahoma. He coached, taught, and was administrator in various schools throughout Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado. He was not only an educator but coached girls basketball as well as ROTC at the University of Arkansas. LeRoy enlisted in the US Air Force on December 28, 1950 and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on January 5, 1961. On June 2, 1979, he married Lesta Dinnel at Burlingame, Kansas. They made their home in Russell, KS until LeRoys retirement when they chose McCook, Nebraska for their home. While in Russell, LeRoy was a member of the Masonic Lodge of which he served as secretary and Shriners. He was also a member of the VFW serving as commander, Rotary Club, and served as County Commissioner of Russell County, Kansas. LeRoy was an avid golfer to which Heritage Hills Golf Course was a large enticement for choosing McCook as their home. He was a devoted Arkansas Razorback, Nebraska Cornhusker and Denver Bronco fan. He also enjoyed hunting pheasant, quail and turkey. He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-daughter, Deborah Kompus. Survivors include his wife, Lesta Jaggers of McCook; daughters, Debra Debbie Park and husband, Barry, and Donna Davis all of Clarksville, AR; brother, J.D. Jaggers of Buhler, KS; step-children, Douglas Horinek and wife, Deanna, of Ludell, KS, Dianne Kugler and husband, Mike, of McCook, NE and David Horinek of Atwood, KS; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be given in his name. Visitation will be Thursday, January 21, 2016, 9:00 a.m. until time of Rosary, at 7:30 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 22, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patricks Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour and Father Thomas Schultes as Celebrants.
