Leona Bernice Real

Leona Bernice Real passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at her home in McCook. She was 86 years old. Leona was born in Hitchcock County, Nebraska to parents, Walter and Alma Hulda (Hagemann) Stark. She graduated from Trenton High School. On March 6, 1949, she was united in marriage to Leland Joseph "Bud" Real in Trenton. They made their home in McCook. She was a busy mother and homemaker. She also worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Bureau of Reclamation for many years. Leona loved to go to her farm near Trenton and particularly enjoyed watching the wheat grow and then watching the harvest. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and watching the news on CNN. Preceding her in death were her parents, Walter and Alma Stark; her husband, Bud Real on June 27, 1980, exactly 37 years to the day; and an infant sister, Dorothy Jane Stark. Survivors include her son, Leigh (Linda Babcock) Real of McCook and grandson Branson Real of Las Vegas, NV. Memorials may be given in her name to the McCook Humane Society. Visitation will be today, Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel from 10:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. Friends may send words of condolences to the family at www.herrmannfh.com Funeral Services will be Friday, June 30, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Bales officiating.
