Leo Leonard Rousselle

Leo Leonard Rousselle, passed away Monday, July 4th, 2016, at the Community Hospital in McCook at the age of 87 years old. Leo was born in Hayes County, NE, to Robert and Rachel (Cook) Rousselle. Leo attended country school until high school and then graduated from Culbertson High School in 1946. Leo started farming right out of high school and was employed erecting steel buildings. Leo married Betty Bobinmyer on August 21st, 1949 and they made their home in Hayes County for nine years. They were blessed with four children, Robert, Deborah, Faith and Kevin. The family moved South of Culbertson to farm and raise cattle, pigs, sheep and the family all helped out with irrigating rented ground. Leo worked as a custom harvester in the area, as well as in Kansas, Oklahoma, North and South Dakota. Leo and Betty met many friends while on the road and some they still keep in touch with today. Leo never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone about any subject. Leo was a devout Christian and a member of the Bethel Missionary Church in Culbertson, NE. Leo was involved in the church from its very beginning, as a board member, treasurer and Sunday School teacher. When Leo wasnt busy on the farm, he enjoyed collecting golf balls from the Trenton Golf Course, golfing with the grandkids, attending auctions, playing Dominoes and Spider Solitaire on the computer. Leo also collected many belt buckles. Leos parents, Robert and Rachel Rousselle preceded him in death. Survivors are Betty Rousselle; children, Robert (Terry) Rousselle, Warr Acres, OK, Deborah (Rod) Spencer, Culbertson, NE, Faith (Doug) Hyde, McCook, NE, Kevin (Karma) Rousselle, Culbertson, NE; Sisters, Beulah (Derrell) Brown, Riverside, CA, Melva (Gaius) Steiner, Hacineda Heights, CA, Luella (Robert) Harris, Viego Mission, CA; brother-in-law, Robert (Vera) Bobinmyer, McCook, NE and Sister-in-law, Doris Wacker, Bentonville, AR. Claudia Rousselle, Bethany, OK; and a lifelong friend, Milton Hegwood, Culbertson, NE. Grandchildren: Christian Schaffert, Lindsay (Derik) Vap, Travis (Lori) Rousselle, Brianne (Adam) Bartlett, Adrienne (Hutch) Hagood, Rick (Cassie) Spencer, Tanner (Lori) Rousselle, Ross (Miranda) Spencer, Reece (Liz) Rousselle, Tori (Joel)Hauxwell, Austyn (Matt)Hyde. 28 Great grandchildren. Memorials may be given in Leos name. Visitation will be Thursday, July 7th from 4-7 P.M. with the family present at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook, NE. Memorial Service will be Friday at 10:30 A.M. at the Bethel Missionary Church in Culbertson, NE with Pastor Jason Smith will be officiating the service.
