Lavonne Roberta Buxton

LaVonne Roberta Buxton, age 91, of McCook, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 20, 2021 at Community Hospital in McCook. She was born on November 8, 1930 in Ewing, Nebraska to Gaylord and Prudence (Rutherford) Albright. She attended school in Page, Nebraska and graduated with the Page High School class of 1949. LaVonne furthered her education at Wayne State College and Kearney State College, graduating with a bachelors degree in education. She taught for a short time prior to being united in marriage to Arnott W. Buxton on January 11, 1953 in Page, Nebraska. LaVonne and Arnott were blessed with seven children: Julieanne, Barbara, William, Cherri, Susan, Jane, and Kevin that they raised in McCook, Nebraska. LaVonne was a woman of faith who took joy in the quiet simple things in life. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved being surrounded by her family and was blessed with 91 years of memories and lessons that will be carried on by her loving family. LaVonne was involved in various Bible studies and treasured fellowship with the Body of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnott; brothers, Melvin and Sterling; sisters, Dorothy and Inez; sisters-in-law, Donna and Becky; and brothers-in-law, Clifford and Omer. She is survived by her children: Julieanne McShannon of Lincoln, Nebraska, Barbara (Gary) Bradney of Kearney, Nebraska, William (Karen) Buxton of Brighton, Colorado, Cherri (Rob) Putz of McCook, Nebraska, Susan Marsh of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jane (Bobby) Hundt of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Kevin (Amber) Buxton of Broadhead, Wisconsin; sister, Joan Hoffman of Clearwater, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday afternoon, November 26, 2021 at Cornerstone Fellowship Church in McCook with Pastor Rob Putz officiating. Graveside services will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday afternoon, November 27, 2021 at the Page Cemetery in Page, Nebraska. The casket will be open prior to services at the church for those that would like to view. Memorials may be given to the family of LaVonne Buxton for future designation.
