Laverne Charles Frick

February 21, 1944 — July 28, 2024

LaVerne Charles Frick was born on February 21, 1944 in Trenton, Nebraska to Roy Charles and Viola Faye (Owens) Frick. He attended school in Trenton, graduating from Trenton High School. After high school, LaVerne served his country honorably in the United States Army from December of 1971 to October of 1972. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and was stationed in Germany.

LaVerne was united in marriage to Sharon Sue Gilbert at the courthouse in Trenton. LaVerne was a jack of all trades. He built houses in Seattle, Washington and farmed at home in Hitchcock County. LaVerne also spent time in the oil fields, worked for the railroad, was a professional painter, as well as his final career which was with the city of Herndon, Kansas. When not working, LaVerne enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing.


LaVerne passed away at Kearney Regional Medical Center on Sunday, July 28, 2024. He was 80 years of age.


He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; son, Kent Jording; sisters, Evelyn Lorentz and Denise Holbrook; brothers, Arvene Frick and Vernon Frick; brother-in-law, Clarence Lorentz; and sisters-in-law, Jackie Sue Fritz and Sherryl Adams.


LaVerne is survived by his wife, Sharon Sue Frick; sons, Lance Jording, Trevor (Jackie) Frick, Kyle Frick, and Robb Griego; grandchildren, Darian, Payton, and McKinna McConnel, Kyley Sue and Ashlie Frick, Arianna, Gabrille, and Coltn Jording, Autumn and Sidney Frick, and Drayven Maret; great-grandson, Evan Wancura; sister-in-law, Gwen Gilbert; and brother-in-law, Jerry Holbrook


Cremation was chosen and no formal services are being planned at this time.
