Lana Sue Eberlein

August 10, 1955 — July 23, 2015

Lana Sue Eberlein, age 59, of Stratton, Nebraska, passed away peacefully after her short but hard-fought battle with cancer, on July 23, 2015, at Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska. She was born in Denver, Colorado, to Harold and Maxine Eberlein. Lana loved cooking, and crocheting throws for those she loved. She was a very resourceful and creative woman and highly skilled at fixing things. In addition, she was recently named as a recipient of the Civic Recognition Award, honoring those who inspire people to help others, improve their communities and recognition for acts of compassion and kindness. Notable Today also recognized Lana with inclusion in the prestigious Notables List. Recognition on a Notables List highlights individuals who have become worthy of attention or notice in their local communities though either through career success, demonstration of a high level of personal integrity, worthwhile volunteer contributions or other considerations. Lana is proceeded in death by both of her parents, Harold and Maxine Eberlein, and her brother, Mike Eberlein. She is survived by her sons, John and Alex Derr; daughter-in-laws, Heather and Kathleen Derr; and multiple grandchildren, all from the Grand Junction, Colorado area; sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Steve Boisvert from the Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas area; niece, Cortney Griffin from Texas and nephew, Robert Eberlein of Portland, Oregon; Aunt, JaNohn Wasser, from Iowa; and many cousins living all across the U.S. Lana will also be greatly missed by her long-time companion, Rick Elliott, and by the many good people she has had in her 'colorful' life. Lana's last wishes were to be cremated and the arrangements were made by Herrman-Jones Funeral Home. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, August 15, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at the VM Building in Stratton, Nebraska. Please join us as we celebrate Lanas life!
