Kinuko Jean Bacon

March 18, 1934 — December 11, 2022

Kinuko Jean Bacon, age 88, of McCook passed away at the Kinship Point of McCook on December 11, 2022. She was born in Sapporo, Japan on March 18, 1934, to Takeshi and Hatsu Yamamoto. Kinuko began Nurses training at age fourteen until she was nineteen to be the equivalent of a Registered Nurse in Japan. On October 29, 1956, she was united in marriage to Robert Lloyd Bacon while he was in the U.S Air Force in Korea. The couple moved to Plattsburg, NY, where Robert was stationed in the Air Force. To this union three children were born: Charles, Linda, and Ronald. The family moved to McCook in 1965 after his discharge from the Air Force. Kinuko was an excellent seamstress, sewed many bridesmaids' dresses, wedding gowns, prom dresses along with many alterations of McCook High school band and pep club uniforms. She was employed by DayCo for over 25 years. Kinuko was extremely proud that she obtained her United States Citizenship on November 11, 1956. She would take her three children to Denver to shop at a Japanese grocery and later found a store in Omaha. She was an avid reader and the Omaha grocer had Japanese books that she would borrow then exchange on the next trip. She was family oriented but enjoyed her privacy. She enjoyed putting together puzzles and cooking, making homemade noodles for Christmas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Takeshi and Hatsu; husband, Robert; stepson, Richard Bacon. Kinuko is survived by her three children, Charles and Shelly Bacon of Lincoln, NE; Linda and Craig Wallen of McCook, NE; Ronald Bacon and LaNita Knoke of Lincoln; four grandchildren; Alicia Bacon, Briane Bacon, Shane (Becky) Wallen, Travis (Alaini) Wallen; four great grandchildren: Shiloh Bacon, Kayla Wallen, Michael Wallen, Trevor Wallen; stepdaughter, Mary Bacon of Humboldt, NE; stepson, Robert Bacon of Nebraska City, NE. The family has chosen cremation and a Memorial Graveside service will be Friday, December 16, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Neb., with Jim Jones officiating.
