Kenneth Brady Mac McCoy formerly of Danbury passed away Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Alma. He was 96 years old. Mac was born on August 13, 1919 at McPherson, Kansas to parents, Clyde and Velma (Brady) McCoy. He graduated from Wallace High School in 1938. Mac was an athlete and participated in most sports throughout his high school years. In November of 1939 he was united in marriage to Lorene Warner. To this union two sons were born. In 1944 he served with the Merchant Marines as a medic. He returned to Lebanon and eventually the family made their home in Danbury in 1946. Mac worked for the County of Red Willow in maintenance for eight years. He served as Red Willow County Commissioner for 24 years retiring in 1986. When Mac wasnt working he enjoyed a good round of golf and going fishing. Preceding him in death were his parents, Clyde and Velma; his wife, Lorene McCoy in 1987; son, Kenneth McCoy, Jr.; brother, Max McCoy; and adopted brother, J.B. Odell. Survivors include his son, Michael McCoy and wife, Linda, of North Carolina; daughter-in-law, Kay McCoy of West Virginia; sister, Ruth Ann Moore of Kansas; numerous grandchildren; special friend and caretaker, Linda Thieben of McCook; and a host of relatives and friends. Memorials may be given in his name to the Alma Senior Center. Friends may sign his book and share memories on Monday, March 28, 2016 from noon 5:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.herrmannfh.com It was Macs wish to be cremated. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at the Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, NE, with Jason VanPelt officiating.
