Kenneth Joe Doherty

Kenneth "Kenny" Joe Doherty, 84, went to be with his Lord on July 31, 2018. He was born on May 19, 1934, to Joseph Franklin and Carrie Belle (Davis) Doherty, in Seneca, KS. Kenny was visiting McCook, NE, where he met the love of his life, Charleen Oberg. They were united in marriage on September 2, 1960 in Oxford, NE. To this union they had three children, Debra Sue, William Lee and Rodney Eugene, and helped to raise their grandson, Brian Scott. Kenny had an entrepreneurs spirit. He was a Jack-of-all-trades. He and his wife were the owners of a caf, he worked combines, farmed, and was a consultant in the oil field. Kenny loved spending time with his family. He loved fishing, traveling and educating himself on how things worked-from businesses to small engines. Preceding him in death are his beloved bride, Charleen; his parents, Joseph and Carrie Belle Doherty; sisters, Ruth McLaughlin, Dorothy Richardson, Shirley Skrdlant, Gladys (Ginny) Berry, and Velma Doherty; brothers, Charles, Clarence, Lloyd, Glenn and Henry (Wayne) Doherty; brother-in-law, Eddie Oberg; granddaughter, Hailee (Doherty) Emerson; and his closest niece, Paula (Doherty) Bixenman. Survivors include his daughter, Debra Doherty (fianc Victor Cavazos); sons, William Doherty and Rodney (April) Doherty. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Brian Doherty, Conor Doherty, Carlee Doherty, Alexandra (Doherty) Emerson and Riley (Doherty) Emerson; his brother, Rex Doherty; sister-in-law, Charlotte Oberg; and many nieces and nephews. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.herrmannfh.com In keeping with Kenneths wishes there will be no funeral services. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made in his name to your local American Red Cross Blood Donation Center. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook entrusted with arrangements.
