Kelly Susan Thompson

Kelly S. Thompson, 53, of Greeley, CO, died on November 16, 2021, at the Nothern Colorado Medical Center Hospice unit, from complications of COVID. She was born on December 30, 1967 in Greeley, CO, to Robert and Sylvia Chinn. She grew up in Greeley and graduated from Greeley Central High School Class of 1986. She graduated from AIMS Community College with an AA degree in General studies and Business Administration. She married Vernon Smith on July 1st, 1990 in Windsor, CO., they divorced in 2011. On October 14, 2012 she married Matthew Thompson of Greeley, formally of Culbertson, NE. For most of her working career, she worked in office jobs and early childhood daycare. For the last several years, she was a homemaker, wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Chinn; mother and father in-law, Denly and Joye Thompson of Culbertson, NE; brother-in-law, Tim Thompson of McCook, NE. Survivors include her husband, Matt, of Greeley, CO; daughter, Erica, of Evans CO; mother, Sylvia Chinn, of Greeley, CO; brother, Greg (Shannon) Chinn of Austin, TX; brother-in-law, Joe (Carol) Thompson, of Hastings, NE; sisters-in-law, Sarajane (Robert) Grandia, of Loveland, CO, and Marijill (Tom) Nickerson of Kearney, NE; aunts, Shirley Williams and Stella Templeton of Greeley, CO; uncle, Lonnie Hagel, of Brighton, CO. Six nieces and four nephews. Several great nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family. In keeping with Kelly's wishes, there will be no Memorial Services for her. However, memorials will be accepted in her name at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel, 607 Norris Avenue, McCook, Nebraska 69001. Northern Colorado Crematory and Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with her after-life care. Inurnment will take place back in Nebraska at a later date.
