June Violet Lafferty-Cooper of McCook, Nebraska passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at The AseraCare Hospice Home in Lincoln. She was 85 years old. June was born on December 11, 1930 at Lincoln, Nebraska to parents Charles and Pearl (Ellsworth) Bloyd. She attended school in Fairbury and Lincoln High School. On March 28, 1948 she was united in marriage to Wayne Lafferty at Lincoln. To this union five children were born. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1984. She later married George Cooper in McCook on May 15, 1987. With this union June would add four more adult children to her family. She was a busy mother and homemaker as well as a bookkeeper in the medical office of Dr. Morgan and Dr. Mason in McCook and then at the Quinter Hospital while living in Kansas. She was also employed by the City of Grainfield. June was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women of which she served as president for a number of years. She was a member of the Quniter Hospital Auxiliary and the Family Frolic Square Dance Club. She enjoyed crafts, making beautiful wreaths, ceramics, and gardening both vegetables and flowers. Other interests included walking, reading and playing cards especially bridge and pinochle. Her pride and joy was her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Charles and Pearl Bloyd; her husband, Wayne Lafferty; daughter-in-law, Les Lafferty; grandson, Matthew Lafferty; four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her husband, George Cooper of Grainfield, Kansas; children, Winston (Deb) Lafferty of McCook, Penny (Dolyn) Brown of Valley, Brian (Linda) Lafferty of Colorado Springs, CO, Mark (DeAnna) Lafferty of North Platte and Michael Lafferty of Council Bluffs, IA; step-children, Terry Cooper of Dallas TX, Sherry (Ernie) Pfeiffer of Ellis, KS, Stanley (Jolene) Cooper of Hays, KS and Randy Cooper of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, Wynn (Angie), Ty (Melissa), Dolyn III, Allyx (Derek), Andrew (Sara), Nathan, Justin and Kelsey; great-grandchildren, Braylyn, Adelia, Lyla, Lily, Haille and Lillian; step-grandchildren, Carol, Ernie, Jessica, Nicole, Taylor, and Blake; step-great-grandchildren, Ernest, Lily, and Xavier; sisters-in-law, Nadene Lafferty of McCook, Evelyn Stinnett of McCook, and Jean Hunt of Palco, KS; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Memorials may be given in her name. Friends may go online at www.herrmannfh.com to extend condolences to the family. Memorial services will be Wednesday, September 7, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Kelley officiating. A private family inurnment will be at a later time.
