June Donnelly

Mae June Donnelly, 95, of McCook, passed away on February 20, 2021 at Kearney Regional Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. June was born to John and Mae (Meissner) Brumgard on August 21, 1925 in McCook, Nebraska. June fondly remembered working at Hesteds Dime Store and operating the soda fountain for many years. She attended school in McCook and graduated from McCook High School. June married Joseph Donnelly on October 5, 1948 in McCook, Nebraska. Joe was employed by the Bureau of Reclamation, so the couple lived in several Nebraska and Kansas communities for his job. In 1963 they made their final move to McCook. June had a volunteers heart; she was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church of McCook and was an active member of the United Methodist Women and did volunteer work outside the church. She was also a member of a bridge club for many years and enjoyed working on her arts and crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mae; husband, Joseph; and sisters, Doris Alma Powell and Anna Mae Vandervort. Survivors include her son, Brian Donnelly of Julesburg, Colorado and nephew Steven Vandervort and family of Bellevue, Nebraska. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook, the family will be present from 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. to greet the public. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Pastor Jeff Kelly and Kerry Johnson officiating. Interment will follow services in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook. Memorials are suggested to Memorial United Methodist Church of McCook in loving memory of June Donnelly.
