Judith 'Judy' K. Hidy

Judith "Judy" Hidy, age 76, of Trenton, NE passed away at the El Dorado Manor in Trenton on Sunday, June 26, 2022. She was born in Holdrege, NE to Paul and Ruby (Allen) Leonard on July 22, 1945. The family moved to the Culbertson area, where Judy attended and graduated from Culbertson High School in 1963. On August 11, 1963, she was united in marriage to Benny L. Hidy. The couple lived most of their married life in Trenton. To this union three children were born: Julie, Jon and Jill. She was a busy mom raising three children. Judy worked part-time at the USPS in Trenton as a clerk, and at the Imperial Library. She and Benny traveled to Hawaii and to Washington D.C. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy on TV. She was an avid reader and crocheted many afghans for babies in Trenton. She volunteered her time to the American Red Cross Bloodmobiles, the Massacre Canyon Visitors Center, and the Trenton Elementary School library. Judy was a past president of the Trenton Friends of the Library organization. She was a friend to everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ruby; brother, Percy Leonard and wife, Marilyn; sister-in-law, Betty Robison and husband, Cornie. Judy is survived by her husband, Benny; two daughters: Julie Spencer and significant other Jerry Navarra of Omaha, and Jill (Garrett) Hurtt of Hemingford, NE; son, Jon Hidy of Trenton; sister-in-law, Helga Leonhardt of San Diego, CA; grandchildren: Benjamin Spencer, Anna Spencer, Harper Hidy, and Maxwell Hidy. Funeral services will be held at the Church of God in Trenton on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 1:30 PM with Randy Hayes officiating. Interment will be in the Trenton Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in Trenton on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, from 10:30 AM until 7:00 PM. The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Friends may leave condolences at herrmannfh.com. Memorials may be given to the Trenton Friends of the Library.
