Juanita Bunker age 85, of Culbertson, NE, died at the McCook Community Hospital on Wednesday, November 3, 2010. She was born in Russell Springs, KS on December 19, 1924, to John W. and May (Woods) Melton. She grew up in the Bartley area attending school and graduated Bartley High School in 1943. On January 19, 1946 she was united in marriage to Vayle Bunker in Ft. Worth, TX. After marriage the couple lived in Wisconsin, and later moved to Nebraska, living in Hastings, McCook and Culbertson. Juanita was employed in McCook as a salesperson for Browm McDonalds Clothing Store, Montgomery Wards, Fashion City and Hesteds. Juanita and Vayle loved to travel. They belonged to the Good Sams Club. They traveled from coast to coast and to Mexico to Canada. In her leisure time Juanita enjoyed embroidery and doing crewel pictures. She belonged to the United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents: 1 brother: Lester Melton and his wife Ethel; sisters-in-law: Lillian and Caroline Melton; Brothers-in-law and wife Arlo and Geraldine Bunker; Gilbert Bunker; son-in-law: Robert Sandman. Survivors include her husband; Vayle of Culbertson; daughter: Linda Sandman of Cambridge; granddaughter: B. J. and husband Gregg Puttergill of Tryon, NE, 2 great grand children: Taylor and Duel Puttergill; 2 brothers: Roy and James Melton both of McCook, NE and a sister-in-law: Elanor Bunker of Currie, MN. Graveside inurnment will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge, NE. Pastor Brian Perry will officiate the services. Memorial may be left in Juanitas name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge. Condolences may be left on line at lockenour.com.
