Joyce Williamson, 82, passed away peacefully at home on January 15, 2025. Born on August 18, 1942, in McCook, Nebraska, to William and Katherine (Fries) Potthoff, Joyce graduated from Trenton High School in 1960.
She married Loren Williamson on June 2, 1962, and they were blessed with five children: Monica (James) Zucker, Pat (Kim) Williamson, Kelli (Ron) Preble, Lee (Becky) Williamson, and Stacy (John) Hull. Joyce was a proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life: Kate and Jill Williamson; Erin, Austin (Elisabeth), and Owen Preble; Nathan, Ava, and Nick Williamson; Abby and Reese Heller, and Tess Hull; along with three great-grandchildren: Austin (AJ), Elijah, and Jeremiah Preble.
Joyce and Loren moved to the family farm in 1970, where they took great pride in its improvement. They enjoyed travelling, playing bridge with friends, and relaxing on the patio after a hard day's work. Joyce's kindness, generosity, and work ethic made everyone feel welcome in her home. She loved decorating, cooking, gardening, and canning, especially dill pickles. Her diverse interests led her to become an EMT, church choir singer, and family farm manager.
Joyce could often be seen on the farm zipping around on her lawn mower or golf cart with her cat in tow. She always had a smile on her face and a list of instructions for others ensuring everything ran smoothly and according to her specifications. 😃
Joyce was an active member of St. James Catholic Church where she contributed significantly. Her dedication to helping others and her warm nature touched many lives.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers Don and Harold, and good friend and sister-in-law Lydia Williamson. Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Loren, her parents, brother Marvin, and an infant sister.
A rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening, January 22, 2025 at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton at 6:00 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:30 AM on Thursday morning, January 23, 2025 at St James Catholic Church in Trenton with Father Gary Brethour celebrating. Burial in St. James Cemetery of Trenton will follow services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are being accepted for charities to be determined later. Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook.
Joyce's legacy of love, kindness, faith, and community service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. As she often said, she wouldn't go to heaven to meet Loren until her chores were done.
