Joyce Marie Minnick

Joyce M. Minnick, age 70, of McCook, NE., passed away at the Swedish Medical Center in Denver, CO., on Friday, May 6, 2022. She was born in McCook on October 24, 1951, to Warren and Helen (Dike) Young. She attended school in Indianola and graduated in the last graduating class of Indianola High School. On March 29, 1976, she married Richard Minnick at the Medicine Creek Lodge at Harry Strunk Lake. The couple made their home in Cambridge. Joyce managed the Cambridge Locker until 1982 when she moved to Indianola. In Indianola, she opened and ran the Dairy Sweet from 1982 until it closed in 1999. She then began work at the C-Store as manager until she retired in 2003. In 2019, she and Rich moved to McCook. Joyce belonged to the Piece Makers Quilt Guild of McCook where she helped make quilts for CASA kids and others. She was an accomplished seamstress. Joyce also ran and coordinated the Indianola bloodmobile for many years. She and Rich traveled to Branson, Phoenix, Nashville, and cruised to Alaska. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Helen; brother, Terry Young. Joyce is survived by her husband, Richard, of McCook; daughter, Christine (Mike) Vranna of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Dallas (Sarah) Minnick of McCook; six grandchildren: Brady, Regan, Addison, Abreil, Zoee, and Travyn; two brothers, Delton (Vicki) Young of McCook and Larry (Mary Jo) Young of Cambridge; and sister-in-law, Denise Young of Cambridge. Her family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be held at the McCook Christian Church on Monday, May 16, 2022, at 2:30 PM with Pastors Clark Bates and Kyle Dellevoet officiating. Memorials may be left in Joyce's name to either the Piece Makers Quilt Guild or to CASA.
