Joseph 'Dean' Weskamp

Joseph Dean Weskamp was born in Indianola, Nebraska to Emil Elvious and Mary Gertrude (Fossen) Weskamp on October 15, 1933. He attended Red Willow High School and McCook Community College. On April 6, 1956, Dean was united in marriage to Faith Hollars in Indianola, Nebraska. They were married for 61 years. Faith passed away in 2017. Dean served his country in the United States Army from November 21, 1956 until his honorable discharge on November 20, 1959. Dean returned to McCook after his time in the service. He worked as an electrician and eventually started his own business, Zip Electric. Dean enjoyed trapshooting as well as hunting and fishing. He kept a large garden and devoted many hours to his woodworking hobby. Dean also enjoyed reading and writing poetry as well as playing the harmonica. Dean passed away Monday morning, November 21, 2022 at his home in McCook. He was 89 years of age. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faith; his parents, Emil and Mary; parents-in-law, Frank and Frances Hollars; brothers, Dale (Phyllis) Weskamp and Merle Weskamp; as well as brothers-in-law, Duane Terrell and Lyle Tomlin Dean is survived by his sons: Thomas, David, Michael (Kristi), and Patrick; three grandchildren, Brady (Jen) Weskamp, Jacob Weskamp, and Nicholas Weskamp; sister, Isabelle Tomlin; sisters-in-law, Rose Weskamp and Pat Terrell; daughter-in-law, Patty Brooks; and many nieces and nephews. The Dean Weskamp family would like to thank the Community HealthCare & Hospice staff for their care and concern. A special thanks to Barbie Long, you will always be more than a nurse and friend; we consider you part of the family. Dean's family honored his wishes to be cremated. There will be no formal services at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Community HealthCare & Hospice of McCook in Dean's name.
