He was born in Cripple Creek, CO on September 8, 1956 to Guy and Helen (Wallace) Shepherd. John attended and graduated from McCook High School in 1975. John was united in marriage to Glenda Hawkinson on February 24, 1978 in Stratton, NE. The couple made their home in Kansas where John was a licensed plumber. John had worked for McClure Plumbing, Red Elliot and at last the Timber Creek Homes in Stratton. John enjoyed hunting and fishing, woodworking, stained glass. He also played pool in several leagues and was an APA pool player. He was a pet lover and will be missed by his two dogs: Rascal and Poco John adored his grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters: Claudine Baker; Shirley Courcier; Dorothy Peters; Rose Ann Shepherd; brother: Vernon; in-laws: Loren and Wilma Hawkinson.; brother-in-laws: Donald Chambers; Raymond Chancellor; Harry Peters. John is survived by his wife Gelnda of Trenton; 2 daughters: Sarah and husband Randy Miner of Stratton; Lauren and husband Troy McDaniel of Haigler; 3 grandchildren: Lillian, Hunter and Graven Miner; 3 sisters: Geraldine Chambers of Denver, CO; Helen Chancellor of Bruning; Jessie and husband Gerald Manley of McCook, NE; 2 brothers: Robert Wallace of McCook and Ronald Wallace of Douglas, NE; uncle: Richard Wallace of Lyons, CO; aunt: Carolyn Wallace of Omaha. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July3, 2014 at 2:00PM at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be left in Johns name at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral chapel in McCook. Friends may leave on-line condolences at herrmannfh.com
