John L Cook

John L. Cook age 78 of Trenton, NE passed away at the Community Hospital of McCook on Sunday October 20, 2019. He was born in Kingman, AZ on March 2, 1941 to Charles Cook and Irene (Steinke) Roose. The family moved to the Trenton area where John attended and graduated from Trenton High School in 1958. On November 5, 1967 he was united in marriage to Linda Owens at the United Methodist Church in Trenton. John worked for the Soo Paw gas station, Gambles, and later in 1972 till retirement at Getty Oil, Texaco Philpot Oil as a pumper. He was a member of the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department, Trenton Recreation and the Lions Club. He enjoyed wood working, making crafts, treasure hunting, reading, being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and camping. He liked to play cards; pitch, pinochle, and dirty hearts. His love was being with his wife, kids, grandkids and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Irene; infant daughter, Terry Sue Cook; sister, Elaine Baumfaulk; and brother, Douglas Roose. John is survived by his wife, Linda Cook of Trenton; two daughters, Kimberly and husband, Kevin Oberg, of Trenton and Tarasa "Tracy" and husband, Scott Propp, of Trenton; three sons, Kelly Cook of Trenton, Travis and wife, Kimberly Cook, of Trenton and Dean Cook of Denver, CO; 16 grandchildren, Ashley, Lacy and husband, Brandon, Tina and husband, Nick, Laken and husband, Jarod, Trent and wife, Josi, Austin, Payton and wife, Kersten, Shelby, Zack, Nick, Tara, Aaron, Carter, Katelyn, Spencer, and Addison; 14 great grandchildren, Issaac, Noah, Rilynn, Eastyn, Midna, Miles, Izzy, Alivia, Arabella, Ruger, Emberlin, Jax, Evan, and Oliver; two sisters, Charlette Francis of Las Vegas, NV and Jane Harrison of Bethel Island, CA; brothers, Reginald and wife, Eleonore Roose, of Rio Linda, CA and Warren "Sonny" and wife, Betty Roose, of Las Vegas, NV; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial services will be held at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook, NE on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Alisa Parde. Inurnment will take place in the Cornell Cemetery at 12:30 PM. Friends may leave on-line condolences at herrmannfh.com. Memorials will may be left in Johns name at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel.
