John "Jerry" Brown

     John "Jerry" Brown, 77, passed away October 11, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Jerry was born September 8, 1948, to Bob and Phillis Brown. Jerry graduated from Cambridge High School in 1966, and continued farming with his father after graduation.

     Jerry married Nancy Allen in 1968, and to this union four children were born: John, Mary, Rob, and Julia.

     In 1969, he served in Vietnam. He was in the 1/506 infantry Regiment 101st Airborne Division and was assigned to this combat unit with both the 3rd platoon of Bravo Company and later, the sniper team. After Vietnam, they returned to the family farm. Later they moved to Colorado where they owned and operated a guest ranch before moving into the towing business, where he met people from all walks of life.

     Jerry returned to Nebraska to be closer to family where he farmed and drove truck hauling oil.

     Always the first to loan a helping hand, he taught his family by example. He was our rock and our foundation.

     Jerry is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, John; daughter, Mary (Mark); son, Rob (Jessica); daughter, Julia (Wes); grandkids, Shelby (Nigel) Forster, Haley (Drake) McNally, Coby Sage, JaeLee Brown, Great grandkids: Bridget Forster, Avery McNally, Brother Joe (Janet) Brown; sister, Jeanie (Kevin) Allen; brother-in-law, Dan (Dianne) Allen; sister-in-law, Angela Allen; and families.

     A Rosary will be recited on Thursday evening, October 16, 2025, beginning at 7:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cambridge.

     Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:30 AM on Friday morning, October 17, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cambridge with Father Kenneth Wehrs celebrating. Burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery in Cambridge will follow services.

     Memorials are suggested to the family of John Brown; they will be used to support Veteran and First Responder charities that were close to Jerry Online condolences may be left at lockenour.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lockenour-Jones Mortuary of Cambridge.
