Joe Allen Williams

Joe Williams, 85, of McCook, passed away Wednesday evening, November 13, 2024 at Community Hospital in McCook. Joe was born to Jeff and Mary Leona (Johnson) Williams on March 30, 1939 in Troy, Mississippi.

Joe graduated from high school and soon after enlisted into the United States Army. His service in the military would span 23 years and station him stateside, in Europe and in Asia; Joe spent 42 months in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1979 at the rank of Sergeant First Class with many awards and citations including the Silver Star.

Joe was united in marriage to the love of his life, Ranae Susan Schmidt. The couple made their home in McCook where Joe served his community and area veterans as the Red Willow County Veterans Service Officer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joseph; and his siblings.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Ranae; his beloved dogs, Izzy and Pee Wee and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen and memorial services with military honors are scheduled for 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook.
