Joan Marie Robison Stevenson, age 96, of McCook, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, after a long and full life.
Joan was born on January 7, 1930, in Grand Island, Nebraska, to Harold and Gladys Robison. She was the oldest of three children and graduated from Alda High School in 1947.
On June 11, 1950, she married Kenneth Stevenson in Grand Island. They later made their home in McCook in 1956, where they raised their four children.
Joan enjoyed cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the McCook Bison and was an avid sports fan. In her retirement years, she found great joy in giving back, volunteering at the Methodist Women’s Thrift Store and the Heritage Senior Center. She also enjoyed completing puzzles and especially loved playing bingo at the senior center. She was a woman of quiet strength and generosity who found happiness in simple moments and time spent with others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her son, Terry Stevenson; her son-in-law, Neil Mitchell; her parents, Harold and Gladys Robison; and her brothers, Gerald and Robert Robison.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Cindy (Ken) Wilson of Culbertson, Sheryl Mitchell of Elmwood, and Karen (Tom) Stewart of McCook; grandchildren Tammi Simpson, Rebecca Jackson, Stephanie Wilson, Brian Wilson, Brad Wilson, Rose Shiers, Ross Stewart; thirteen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Memorials in her name are suggested to the McCook Library or the Heritage Senior Center, both of which brought her many years of joy.
