Joan Ray Allen

Joan R. Judy Allen of McCook, Nebraska passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Community Hospital. She was 89 years old. Judy was born on July 15, 1925 at Concordia, Kansas to parents Homer Paul and Katherine (Donahue) Charbonneau. She attended school in Concordia. On May 3, 1949 she was united in marriage to Sidney Clement Allen at Concordia. To this union eight children were born. They moved to the McCook community in 1956 where Sidney was employed by Burlington-Northern and Judy was a busy mother and homemaker. She was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church and made certain all of her children attended St. Patricks School. She was a role model for all of her family and made sure everyone was loved and taken care of. When she had free time Judy loved to feed the birds and squirrels and spend time with her flowers. She enjoyed going to garage sales, having coffee with her friends, and playing Bingo. She was devoted to her canine friend, Pepe, as he was to her. Preceding her in death were her parents, Homer and Katherine Charbonneau; her husband, Sidney Allen on June 4, 2008; two daughters, Nancy Martinez and Sherrill Thayer; two grandchildren, Kristi Allen and Jason Allen; and numerous brothers and sisters. Survivors include her sons, Bob Allen of Culbertson, Mike Allen and wife, Brenda, of McCook, and Pat Allen and wife, Diana, of Herndon, KS; daughters, Lynn and husband, Vony Carfield, Vicki Lampman, and Sandy Schwab all of McCook; her identical twin sister, Jane Thoman of Concordia, KS; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. Memorials may be given in her name to the St. Patricks Catholic Church.
