Jean Elaine Kunkee

Jean Elaine Ruggles Kunkee of McCook passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at The Ambassador Nursing Home in Omaha after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 27, 1943 at McCook to parents, Lowell Albert and Sina Katherine (Jensen) Ruggles. She graduated from Red Willow High School in 1961. She was confirmed into Christian faith on December 10, 1961 at St. Johns Lutheran Church. On March 4, 1962 she was united in marriage to Raymond Kunkee at St. Johns, Ash Creek. They were blessed with two children, Mark William and Amy Suzanne. Jean worked as a Banking Administrative Assistant until her retirement in 2008. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and active in Lutheran Womens Missionary League, Ladies Guild and played the organ. Jeans other interests included crocheting, cross stitch, and collecting clowns. She loved music and watching all kinds of sports, especially the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Her greatest joy and the love of her life were her children and grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, grandparents and Raymond Kunkee. Survivors include her children, Mark Kunkee and wife, Leanne, and granddaughters Elaine Consuelo and Dianne Katherine, all of San Diego, CA and Amy and husband, Kenton Smith, and grandchildren Maxwell Raymond and Vivian Naoma of Omaha. Also surviving are her sisters, Marilyn Kunkee and husband, Delbert, of McCook and Lois Conway of McCook; her brother, Robert Ruggles and wife, Catherine, of Mesa, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of family and friends. Memorials may be given in her name to St. Johns Lutheran Church, RR 3 Box 124, McCook, NE 69001 or KNGN Radio Station, 38005 Road 717, McCook, NE 69001. Visitation will be Friday, October 30, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. 8:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.herrmannfh.com Funeral services will be Saturday, October 31, 2015, 10:30 a.m. at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Ash Creek, rural McCook, with Pastor Derrick Brown officiating.
