Janice Olson

Janice Kay Olson, age 85, formerly of McCook, NE, passed away at the Azria Health Care Center in Central City, NE on March 27, 2023. She was born in McCook, NE on March 11, 1938, to Elmer W. and Freda L. (Adams) Olson. Janice attended McCook High School and held class offices of president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer, along with involvement in music groups, annual staff, and editor, graduating in 1956. Janice attended Western State College in Gunnison, CO, graduating with a bachelors degree in music and physical education. She taught in Cody, Wyoming for three years. Janice obtained her masters degree in 1978 from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Janice also earned her PhD from Ohio State in 1979. She then taught at Purdue University as a professor of physical education. Janice never married. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Freda; brother, Roger Olson. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Twila Olson of Douglas, NE, and several cousins. A graveside inurnment will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook, NE.
