James "Jim" Leon Sailors of McCook, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at Kearney Regional Medical Center. He was 54 years old. Jim was born on October 3, 1962 at Lincoln, Nebraska to parents, Wayne Leon and Karen Judy (Rippen) Sailors. He graduated from Beaver Valley High School with the class of 1981. He entered the US Navy shortly after graduating and would make a career serving his country for the next 20 some years. While in the Navy, he received his education in Computer Science. Jim was honorably discharged on July 31, 2001. He was a member of the Bartley VFW, American Legion Post #313, Lebanon, and the American Pool Association (APA). He worked at the Coat Closet and Toy Box for many years. A job he was honored to do helping so many unfortunate adults and children. He also was a caretaker of the Lebanon Cemetery. Jim enjoyed making jewelry with beads and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Sailors; two step-fathers, Charles Howard Leach and Charles Brown; two infant brothers, Gary Wayne Sailors and Larry Dean Sailors. Survivors include his mother, Karen Brown of Lebanon; three brothers, Terry L. Sailors and wife, Marilyn, of Lincoln, Michael L. Sailors and wife, Aimee, of Omaha and Scott H. Leach and wife, Stephanie, of Ringgold; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. Memorials may be given in his name. Memorial services will be Friday, July 21, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel with Keith Theobold officiating. The family will honor Jims wish to be buried at sea at a later time.
