James Lowell Dailey

November 17, 1937 — December 19, 2015

James Lowell Dailey passed away Saturday December 19th, 2015 at the Community Hospital in McCook at age 78. He was born November 17, 1937 on the family farm Northwest of Stratton to Elmer and Nova (Danielson) Dailey. He was the youngest of four children. He attended country school through the 8th grade a mile from home. He went to High School in Stratton and graduated in 1955. He attended Junior College in McCook before transferring to Kansas State University where he received his Bachelor of Science. He was a member of the Delta Sigma FI Fraternity. The U.S. Army drafted Jim May 14, 1962, where he spent two years in Fort Belvoir, VA. After returning home to farm Jim met and married Wyona Nonie Stute on February 14, 1965. To this union, three children were born, Jimmie, John and Kenda. Jim loved farming and raising cattle and hogs, spending time with family and watching Nebraska football. In addition to family, Jim taught for many years Vocational Ag to local veterans several nights a week in McCook and Benkelman. He was a board member of the Stratton Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Jim was a long time member of the Stratton Coffee Drinking Society. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Nova Dailey; infant son, John; brother, Bob Dailey; and sister, Charlotte and brother-in-law Howard Wyss; nephew Kurt Dailey; and his in-laws, Roy and Ruby Stute. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nonie Dailey of Stratton; son, James H. and wife Melissa, of Stratton; daughter, Kenda Dailey of McCook; Grandsons, Kyle of Stratton, Logan of Springfield, MO, and Joshua and his best girl Makayla of Englewood, CO; one brother, Neil (Beverly) Dailey of Los Cruces, NM; brother-on-law, Daryl (Bonnie) Stute of Canton, KS, Ken (Karen) Stute of Holdrege, NE; many nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention. Memorials may be given in his name. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.herrmannfh.com Memorial services will be Wednesday, December 23, 2015, 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Stratton. A military presentation will follow the service at the church. There will be a private family inurnment at a later time. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
