James 'Jim' E. Bobinmyer

October 26, 1947 — May 24, 2015

James Jim E. Bobinmyer, age 67, of Culbertson, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in McCook, NE, on October 26, 1947, to Robert and Vera (Case) Bobinmyer. Jim graduated from Herndon High School in 1965. He then attained a Bachelor of Science degree from Fort Hayes State University in Agriculture where he was a member of the FHSU rodeo team. Jim was united in marriage to Hazel Ruggles on March 27, 1976, in McCook, NE. They settled on the family farm west of Culbertson. Jim loved all aspects of ranching, from calving in the spring, branding, and weaning, to selling in the fall. Jim and Hazel would spend many summer Sunday afternoons driving around checking the cows and pastures. Jim was a former Nebraska Cattleman, and was a strong advocate of farm and ranch programs for kids. Kindergartners around the area knew him as "Farmer Jim" when they visited the farm during spring and fall field trips. Jim served on the Culbertson School Board and the Hitchcock County 4-H Council. Jim was a member of the McCook Christian Church. Jim was preceded in death by infant twin sons, and a brother, David Bobinmyer. Jim is survived by his wife Hazel of Culbertson; daughter Jaime and husband Heath Hornecker of Casper, WY; 2 sons: Tyler and wife Jenna Bobinmyer of Culbertson, and Cody Bobinmyer and fiance Laura Balius of Gordon, NE; 6 grandchildren; parents Robert and Vera Bobinmyer of McCook, NE; and sister Vicki and husband James Berkley of Stockton, KS. Funeral services will be held at the McCook Christian Church on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Clark Bates officiating. Interment will be in the Culbertson Cemetery on Wednesday following the service. Visitation will be held at the Herrmann Funeral Chapel from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Friends may leave on-line condolences at herrmannfh.com. Memorials may be left in Jims name to either the Culbertson Ambulance Squad or the McCook Christian Church.
