Irene F. Stover, age 98 died at the El Dorado Manor in Trenton on Friday, 13, 2016. She was born in Trenton, Nebraska on March 22, 1918 to Carl and Mary (Raymond) Steinke. At age nine,Irene'smother died and was raised by her father and grandmother. She grew up on a farm near Trenton and went to Trenton Schools. Irene was married to Charles Cook and to this union 1 son, John was born. She was later married to Earnest Roose and to this union 2 children were born: Charlotte and Douglas and gained 3 step children. Irene lived in California, Wyoming, Nevada, Georgia and retired back in Nebraska. Irene has lived the last 13 years in McCook, before moving to the El Dorado Manor in Trenton 3 years ago due to declining health. She was a member of the Memoria United Methodist Church. She was a published poet and wrote childrens books. She was a quilter making over 1000 quilts, all hand stitched. Irene was an avid reader. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers: Eugene and Charles Steinke; sister: Lila Gillespie, Pearle Daugherty, Iva Schnabel, Norma Martinez; step daughter: Elaine Baumfalk. She leaves to mourn her daughter: Charlotte Francis of Las Vegas, NV; 2 sons: John and wife Linda Cook of Trenton; Douglas Roose of McCook, NE; step-daughter: Jane Harrison of California; stepsons: Reginald and wife Elaine Roose of Rio Vista, CA; Warren and wife Betty of Las Vegas, NV; 30 grandchildren, host of great grand and great-great grandchildren. Cremation was chosen and services to be announced at a later date. Friends may leave memorials in Irenes name to the Trenton Library. On-line condolences can be left at herrmannfh.com
