Irene M. Schneider

Irene M. Schneider, age 92, passed away, with family by her side at the Sarah Ann Hester Memorial Home, in Benkelman, NE on Sunday, November 21, 2021. . Irene was born on December 15,1928 to Henry and Anna Bauer. She graduated from Culbertson High School in 1946 and attended McCook Community College. She married Howard Schneider on December 4, 1953. This union was blessed with 3 children, Lynda, Debra, and Scott. She was a homemaker for many years, until she was hired as the first employee at the Electric Hose and Rubber Company in McCook, and worked there until her retirement. Irene loved her animals. She always fed stray cats, along with the family pet cats. She adopted several of her childrens dogs, including Gracie, her beloved companion until her death. Most of all Irene cherished her family. She doted upon her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would never tire of their visits, phone calls, or stories about them. She enjoyed sewing, making clothing for her children and their Barbie dolls, square dancing, watching the Cornhusker football games, and listening to the Bison high school football games on the radio. Irene was preceded in death by her husband Howard, and a great-grandson Aiden. She is survived by her daughters Lynda (Barry) Jollensten of Ogallala, Debra (Larry) Stoney of Herndon, KS, and son Scott (Audrey) Schneider of North Platte; 9 grandchildren, Jared, Trent, Cherie, Jana, Nathan, Kaelea, Michelle, Aaron, and Keith; 16 great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog Gracie. Funeral services will be held at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Lonnie Felcher officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery of McCook. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM with family present from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Memorials may be left to the McCook Humane Society in Irene's name. Friends may leave on-line condolences at herrmannfh.com.
