Imelda Marie Hays

Imelda M. Hays age 82, of McCook, NE passed away at the Hillcrest Nursing Home on Monday, October 6, 2014. She was born in McCook on December 31, 1931 to Andrew and Mary (Schutte) Kohmetscher. She attended school in McCook. On April 2, 1951 she was united in marriage to Paul Hays at the St. Patricks Catholic Church in McCook. Paul preceded her in death on November 3, 2007. To this union four children were born: Phillip, Michael, Gregory and Charlotte. Imelda was employed as the Head Housekeeping at the McCook Hospital and later at the Hillcrest Nursing Home as Head of Laundry Services. Imelda retired from her work in 1995. She was a member of the St. Patricks Catholic Church, the Altar Society, BPOE Does. She and Paul enjoyed traveling to Nevada and South Dakota where she enjoyed games of chance. She loved to bowl, bingo, cards and collected dolls and Depression glass. Imelda was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Paul; granddaughter: Angela Horne; great grandson: Oscar Dutcher; 8 siblings: Kenneth Kohmetscher; Victor Kohmetscher; Irma Kometscher; James Kohmetscher; Roberta Cappel and Betty Hull; Rita Titman; Hugh Kohmetscher. She is survived by her daughter: Charlotte and husband Allen Dunworth of Culbertson, NE; 3 sons: Phillip and wife Cyndi Hays of Ft. Wright, KY; Michael And wife Anna Hays of McCook, NE; Gregory and wife Cindy Hays of McCook, NE; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters: Mary Ann Stritt of Indianola; Eunice Norman of Rochester, MN; Deanna Kohmetscher. Memorial may be left in her name to the St. Jude Childrens Hospital Rosary will hekd at 7:00 PM at the Herrmann-Jones FuneralChapelin McCook on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will held on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Thjomas Schutles officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery of McCook. Memorials may be left in Imelda's name to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
