Hobert Harold Adkins, age 78, of Danbury, NE passed away at the Kearney Regional Hospital on Sunday, April 26, 2015. He was born in Man, West Virginia, September 20, 1936 to Clovis and Minerva (Belcher) Adkins. He graduated from Ham, High School in 1954. Harold worked many different jobs. He contracted as a shrimper on a shrimp boat in the Gulf of Mexico out of Lousianna, as a ranch hand for a rancher in Wyoming. He later worked as a driller and as a consultant for an oil company in Wyoming. On July 18, 1974, Harold married Betty Murray in Powell, Wyoming. The couple lived in Gillette and Moorcroft, Wyoming, prior to Harolds retirement. Due to any eye infection that left him blinded,Harold and Betty retired and moved to Danbury, Nebraska in 1993. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in MCook. Harold has spent the last year as a resident of the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. He was preceded in death by his parents: son; Albert Adkins in 2005; daughter: Laura Lee Middleton; 4 grandsons: Sterling, Dervin and Shane Middleton, Heath Fender; sister and husband: Frances and Wendell Williamson; daughter-in-law: Amy Adkins; Brother-in-law: David Day; nephew: Jason Day. Harold is survived by his wife: Betty of Danbury; 6 sons: Steve Adkins of Shelton, NE; Alan and wife Traci Adkins, St. Lawrence, SD; Hank Adkins and significant other: Christy Billat of Gillette, WY; Jay and wife Joan Shadden of Las Vegas, NV; Terry and wife Pricilla Shadden of Denver, CO; Videll Shadden of Riverton, WY; 3 daughters: Brenda and husband Tom Tynsky of Riverton, WY; Twila and husband Joe Butmer of Pinedale, WY; Wanda and husband Jimmy Mannie of Redding, CA; 27 grandchildren; 31 grandchildren; 2 sisters: Merlene and husband Audley Wiley ; Imogene and husband Larry Suite ; 2 brothers: John and Ida Mae Belcher; Bernie Adkins. Graveside services will be held at the Danbury-Marion Cemetery on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 till 7:00 PM at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel McCook, NE. Friends may leave on-line condolences at herrmannfh.com.
