Henry 'Hank' Stecker

Henry D. Stecker, formerly of Culbertson, received his Heavenly fortune November 19, 2016 in Kingfisher, OK at the age of 89. Hank was born March 1, 1927 on a farm near Culbertson, NE to John T. and Kate Stecker. He was baptized on April 3, 1927 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Culbertson. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1944, and in 1949 married his lifetime sweetheart, Shirley (Shackelford) in a union that lasted 64 years. They were blessed and three sons Robert, Jack and Tom. The son of German immigrants, Hank learned early the meaning of hard work. Farming was his livelihood, spending most of his years on a farm east of Trenton. Later he and Shirley moved to Culbertson and then later to McCook, where he continued to cultivate his relationships with family and friends. He treasured these most as the years passed. His church, cards, golfing and listening to Shirleys piano and organ music were his favorite things. Despite the often bumpy roads with earthly struggles and hardships, Hank completed his lifes journey as a grateful, humble, forgiven man, having brought joy and laughter to those who knew and loved him. Hank was preceded in everlasting life by his wife, Shirley; brother, Lester; youngest son, Tom and granddaughter Katie. Continuing on are sons; Robert and wife, Carol, of McCook, Jack and Christa, of Yukon, OK and Toms wife Lynn, of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren, Ryan; Darcy Rouse and husband, Tony, of McCook; Sean and Laura of Chandler, AZ; Jessi Stecker and fianc, Phillip Walters; Seth and wife, Amanda, of Oklahoma; six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends in KS, MO, and across the country. Memorials may be given in his name. Visitation will be Friday, November 25, 2016 at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friends may send online condolences to the family at www.herrmannfh.com Funeral service will be at St Johns Lutheran Church in Culbertson at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 26, 2016 with Pastor Brad Rick officiating. Interment will follow at Trenton Cemetery. The funeral will be conducted by Hermann-Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook. Visitation
