Harland Daniel

     Harland Daniel was born on September 13, 1937, in Laurin, Montana. Harland passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at Omaha Medical Center surrounded by his family.

     Harland married the love of his life, Mary Lou Welsh, on March 4, 1957, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Together they built a life filled with love, family, and shared passions, especially cheering on the Nebraska Huskers.

     He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, and their children: Wayne (Brenda) Daniel of Palisade; Donna (Dwain) Curtis of Palisade; Kay (John) Schneider of Oberlin; Sandra (Gary) Parks of McCook; and Terri (Greg) Fry of Lincoln. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and his sister, Ima Jean Peres.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and step-mother Goldie Daniel, mother, Ruth Leighen, brothers: Orval (Jack) Daniel, Wayne Daniel, step-brother: Lester Daniel, sisters: Ethel Stier, Eithel Stinette, Irene Fisher, step-sister: Janice Decker, and granddaughter: Samantha Jo Parks.

     Harland’s life was marked by service and hard work. He first entered in the military at the young age of 14 and later reenlisted, demonstrating his deep commitment to his country. After his time in the service, Harland spent 45 years driving trucks, both independently and for others. Prior to retirement, he drove the Handy Bus for the City of McCook for eight years.

     In his free time, Harland found joy in watching anything sports-related with Mary—a pastime that brought them closer together and filled their home with spirited energy.

     Although, Harland was quiet and reserved those that knew him seen his lighthearted ways and joking spirit.

     Harland chose cremation, and a private family graveside inurnment will be held later at the Hamlet cemetery.

     He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
