Gwendolyn Prell

Gwendolyn Adele (Scott) Prell received her heavenly wings on November 30, 2023. Gwen was born on May 23, 1928 to Chuck and Beulah Scott of Anselmo, Nebraska. She was the youngest child and only girl along with three brothers who fondly nicknamed her "Sissy". She graduated from Anselmo High School in 1946. On November 21, 1946 Gwen married Fred Prell at the United Methodist Church in Anselmo. In 1950, Fred and Gwen moved to Newcastle, Wyoming where she began an 18-year employment with Toomeys Mill. 1968 found the Prells in Cortez, Colorado being transferred there by Freds employment with Texaco. She then worked for Rural Electric for five years. Their final move was in 1973 when they came to McCook, Nebraska where she continued to work for Rural Electric until her retirement in 1983. Gwen was very active in many organizations in her earlier years and made many good friends. She was a member of the Methodist Church in McCook. She was very active with Awanas and cherished the time she spent with the children. In her later years, many of those children would visit her at her home and she always made time for them. Gwen was especially proud of the Helping Hands Store and the Christmas Store. She was always taking her family members down to do a little shopping when they were in town. She enjoyed working there and the women she worked with. Gwen was very caring and loving. She appreciated everything that her family and friends did for her. In the family realm, we always knew who was the boss! She will be deeply missed, but is now reunited with her loved ones. Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Prell; her parents, Chuck and Beulah Scott; and her brothers, Norman, Stewart, and Robert. She is survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Memorial Methodist Church of McCook with Pastor Jeffy Kelly officiating. Interment will be at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell at 2PM. Memorials may be left to the Memorial Methodist Church of McCook. Friends may leave online condolences at herrmannfh.com.
