Griff E. Carfield, age 68, of Lebanon, NE, went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2019. Griff was born September 13, 1950 in McCook, NE to Kenneth and Mary Majestie (Rayburn) Carfield. Griff graduated from McCook High School in 1969. He was drafted to the Vietnam War shortly after graduation where he served in the Army. He was united in marriage to Delores Lehn of McCook, NE on December 19, 1970. To this union their four children were born, Robby, Lonny, Jimmy, & Kristy. Upon his discharge from the service, Griff enrolled in Western Nebraska Community College in Sidney NE, before transferring to North Platte Community College and graduating with an Associate Degree in Diesel Mechanics. Griff was a jack of all trades, working for Parker-Hannifin, Valmont, Vitalex, in oil fields, welding and water well services to name a few. In 1988 he moved to Alliance, NE to continue his career with Parker-Hannifin, where he met and married Debra (Jensen) Carfield September 22, 1988. With this union he welcomed two step-daughters Shannon & Megan, which he treated as his own. They moved to the McCook area in 1999 and made their home in Lebanon NE in 2000. One of the many things Griff enjoyed in life were children, from coaching ball to just watching them play on the playground. His grandchildren brought him much joy and happiness. He enjoyed teaching them the many traits that he had, which included singing the chicken song and learning to get a fire started in the wood burning stove by saying "burn baby burn." Griff knew a little bit about everything, all you had to do was ask him and he would tell you. He was a hardworking man. The only thing he excelled at more than helping anyone that needed him was being ornery and picking on them in the process. He was smart and handy, could fix anything. Griff was always full of jokes and laughter, a kind man with an enormous heart. Gone too soon but will never be forgotten. Griff was proceeded in death by his grandparents; parents; sister, Conie; brothers, Harry and Ed; mother-in-law, Alberta Jensen; brothers-in-law, Rollie Jensen & Calvin Beck; sister-in-law Betty Day.
