Gregory Earl Schumaker

Gregory Earl Schumaker, age 66, of Bartley, Nebraska died at his home on Sunday, March 25, 2018. He was born in Bloomfield, Iowa on June 12, 1951 to Beverly and Henry "Earl" Schumaker. Greg married Bonnie Rogers on February 7, 1971. They were married only a short time before Greg enlisted in the Army and served stateside during the Vietnam War until 1973. He was a very talented, self-employed carpenter who did beautiful work. Greg loved collecting things, especially tools, marbles, and die cast semis. He loved his grandchildren dearly and had taught them how to play dominos, rummy and pinochle. Most importantly, Greg had committed his life to Christ and was recently baptized by his son, Shane. He was proceeded in death by his parents and step-mother, Shirley; one sister, Melody Jurgens; and brother, Garry Schumaker. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, of Bartley; two sons, Todd and wife, Jen, of Bloomfield, Iowa and Shane and wife, Mandy, of Norton, Kansas; sister, Marsha Carmine and husband, Cernuto; brother, Gordon and wife, Ellen; and five beloved grandchildren, Austin Davis and Callie Schumaker and Nataley, Lauryn and Shelby Schumaker. Memorials are suggested to Lakeview Christian Camp, Stockton, KS, 13805 10 RD, Stockton, KS 67669. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018 and Friday, 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel, McCook. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel, McCook, NE, with Jim Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Bartley Cemetery with military honors.
