Gertrude Potth

McCook, NE.Gertrude Potthoff, 90, died Wednesday (Dec. 9, 2015) at Community Hospital of McCook. She was born in Shnfeld, Kreis Kontiz, West Prussia, Poland on July 16, 1925 to Johann and Anna (Rink) Karnowski. She attended Stadt Schule in Konitz and also took childcare courses. She immigrated to Germany after World War II. On March 12, 1955, she married Otto Potthoff in Oberpleis, Germany. They spent their married lives farming south of McCook. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents as well as siblings Irmgard Karnowski, Elisabeth Karnowski, Hans Karnowski, and Gerhard Karnowski. Survivors include one daughter, Brigitta and husband, Steve Post of McCook; one son, Merwin Potthoff of McCook; and three grandchildren, Rebecca, Samantha and Lucas. Her surviving siblings are Anna Karnowski, Maria Karnowski, Leo and wife Irmgard Karnowski, Herribet Karnowski, Dorothea and husband Markwatt Radseck, Siegfried Karnowski, and Bruno and wife Margret Karnowski as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Services are Saturday, December 19th, 2015, 10:30 am at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook, Nebraska with the Reverend Tom Albertson officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
