CAMBRIDGE, Neb. -- Geraldine J. Leibbrandt, age 85, died at the Cambridge Manor in Cambridge on May 30, 2014.
She was born in McCook, Nebraska, on March 18, 1929, to Archie and Neva (Fassler) Ball. She attended school in McCook.
On July 21, 1946, Geraldine was united in marriage to Clarence Leibbrandt at the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook. The couple adopted two young boys, Gary, age 10 and Roy, age 11, in 1968. Clarence preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 2000. The couple farmed south of Wilsonville until retirement in 1986. The couple moved to Holdrege in 1998. Geraldine continued to live in Holdrege for five years between home and the Christian Home, until 2009. She moved to the Cambridge Manor in Cambridge where she has resided for the last five years to be closer to family and friends.
Geraldine was active in the Lutheran Church until her health failed. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, baking and garage sales. She was a member of the Busy Bee Club in Wilsonville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; great-grandson, Brandon Lowell Trent; three brothers, Roger: Wayne and wife, Shirley and Robert Ball; two sisters, Marge and husband, George Simmons and Betty and husband, Jack Newlun
She is survived by her two sons, Gary and Lori of Wilsonville and Roy and wife, Elaine of Mitchell, Nebraska; four grand-children; 10 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Carol Ball.
Funeral services will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cambridge on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Don Jenkins officiating. A 2 p.m. graveside service will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
Memorials may be left in Geraldine's name to the L 2 For Kids at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary.
