Geraldine LaNell Clark of Trenton, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska surrounded by her loving family. She was 81 years old. Geraldine was born on October 9, 1938 at Clovis, New Mexico to parents Thomas Edward and Clementine (Messina) Webb. She graduated from Fort Sumner, New Mexico High School in 1956. Geraldine was a very determined head strong, successful, entrepreneur who loved a challenge. Settling in Nebraska Geraldine co owned the Trenton Texaco station expanded business and opened Bariod Drilling Mud Co. and then Clark Trucking Co. During the 1979 truckers strike Geraldine took to the road and became one of the first female truck drivers in America. She opened Gerrys Tavern in Trenton and became active in Farming. Then expanded her interests in the oil drilling business, setting on the board of various oil companies. She became even more active in the cattle business, always saying its what she enjoyed most. In the late 80s she built and opened Rockin Robins in McCook and ventured into gaming. As she was nearing retirement, she "snowbirded" to Marco Island Florida and opened a hair salon and a chain of pawnshops called the Gold Nugget. After over a decade she returned to Nebraska and set to open one last business the Blue Moon Saloon in Culbertson, we all know how that ended. Lol. When Geraldine was not working you could find her enjoying a good game of cards, bowling, fishing, and traveling. She volunteered several years as a softball coach and loved spending time with her grandchildren and her many pets. Preceding her in death were her parents, Thomas and Clementine Webb; daughter, Sheryl Koestel siblings, Harvey Gibson, Palmer "Skeeter" Webb, Ann Brennan, and Dessie Lewis-Hurd. Survivors include her children, Dana (Dennis) Chambers of Culbertson, Robin (Colby Hall) Schaffert of McCook and Bruce (Charles Grogan) of Miami, Florida; siblings, LeRoy (Georgine) Gibson of Roswell, New Mexico, Mauro (Mary) Gibson for Roswell, New Mexico and Marion Bailey of Santa Fe, New Mexico; seven grandchildren, Levi Lucero, Brody Lucero, Kaden Clark, Jaden Clark, Logan Schaffert, Bransen Schaffert and Daniel Schaffert; and nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. Memorials may be given in her name. A book signing will be at Herrmann Jones Funeral Home in Trenton on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Visitation will be Friday, January 24, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 25, 2020, 2:30 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel with Jamie Mockry officiating. Burial will follow at Trenton Cemetery, Trenton, NE.
