Gerald 'Jerry' Joseph Vontz

Gerald J. Jerry Vontz age 67 of Trenton, died at his home on Sunday Nov 10, 2013. He was born in McCook, NE on September 18, 1946 to Lawrence and Cornelia Nellie (Sughroue) Vontz. Jerry attended school in Indianola and graduated from Indianola High School in 1964. He served in the U. S. Army Reserves. Jerry was married to Linda Drinkwalter and to this union two children were born: Cathy and Mike. Jerry work in the oil fields in Nebraska and Montana as a driller and later as a pumper. He worked for Stopplelworth and the Texaco Companies. Jerry has lived in Trenton for the past 9 years. He has worked for the Frenchman Valley COOP in Culbertson and the Trenton Agri Products. Jerry loved to be outdoors, hunting, fishing. He enjoyed watching sports on TV especially Raider football or his beloved Yankees. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Larry and a grandson Colton Vontz He is survived by a special friend: Judy Hay of Trenton; daughter Cathy and husband Shon Whetham of Morrell, NE; son: Mike of Eustis, 4 grandchildren; NE; 3 brothers: Dave and wife Nancy of Omaha; Wayne and wife Mary Jo of Cambridge; Denis and wife Terri of Lincoln. A Memorial Mass will be recited on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 10:30 Am at St. Catherines Catholic Church in Indianola, NE with Father Tom Meguire officiating. Inurnrment will be in the St. Catherines Catholic Cemetery. Memorial may be left in his name to the Trenton ambulance squad.
