Gerald Lynn Peterson

Gerald Lynn Peterson of McCook passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Community Hospital. He was 64 years old. Gerald was born on September 14, 1952 in McCook to parents, Alfred Frank and Ethel Ellen (Vaughn) Peterson. Gerald was baptized and confirmed in the Trenton United Methodist Church. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1970. He continued his education at Milford where he earned his certificate in Auto Body. On February 2, 1974 he was united in marriage to Judy Stewart at McCook. To this union a daughter, Trisha, was born. In 1983, he married Lori Zuege in Colorado and to this union a son, Joshua, was born. He would later marry Mary Gonzalez on September 17, 2005 in McCook where they made their home. To this union a step-son, Michael, would join his family. Gerald was employed at Anderson Motors, Kizziers of Kearney, and Chief Industries. His most recent employment was with the city of McCook where he worked as a laborer for over ten years until 2010. His hobbies included putting models together, fishing, playing games on his I Pod, and working in his vegetable garden. He enjoyed NASCAR and tinkering with just about anything. His family came first especially his grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Alfred and Ethel Peterson; and two nephews, Justin and Jason. Survivors include his wife, Mary Peterson of McCook; daughter, Trisha and husband, Darren Wulf, of Cambridge; son, Joshua Zuege of Frederick, Colorado; step-son, Michael Judd and wife, Heather, of Aurora, NE; two brothers, Daniel Eugene Peterson and wife, Cindy, of McCook and John Frank Peterson and wife, Kate, of Elwood; two sisters, Elizabeth and husband, Roger Cline, of Grand Island and Susan and husband, Jerry Brunswick, of McCook; grandchildren, Haily Judd, Erica Lavery, and Justin Judd; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family will honor Geralds wish to be cremated. Friends may stop by the funeral home during business hours to sign his book or go online at www.herrmannfh.com to extend condolences to the family. Memorials may be given in his name to charity of choice. A celebration of life will be Friday, November 11, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel.
