George Patterson

George Henry Patterson was born on January 5, 1935 in Clyde, Kansas to Thomas and Anna (Eiznhamer) Patterson. He attended school in Kansas through the eighth grade.

On June 13, 1954 George was united in marriage to Sylvia Pearson in McCook, Nebraska. George and Syliva would live their entire married lives in McCook. George worked almost his entire career at the Chevrolet garage in McCook. First it was Hormel Chevrolet and later Kool Chevrolet. He also helped many drivers in the area with his wrecker/tow truck.

George was a longtime member of the Methodist Church in McCook. He and Sylvia belonged to a pinochle card club in their younger days and enjoyed dancing at the Eagles Club. George loved fishing and enjoyed his trips to Canada. He even earned Master Angler awards for the fish he caught in Canada. Later, he loved working on puzzles.

George passed away Monday morning, March, 3, 2025 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. He was 90 years old.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Sylvia on Christmas day 2023; he missed her greatly.

Survivors include his children, Duane Patterson and wife, Kathy of Topeka, KS and Cindy (Cynthia) Moore and husband, Stan of Bartley, NE; grandchildren: Nick Patterson and wife, Danielle of North Platte, NE, Joel Patterson and wife, Jellisa of Greeley, CO, Courtney Lindsay and husband, Scott of Arvada, CO and Ryan Billington of Omaha, NE; great-grandchildren, Sabian and Rory Gragg of North Platte and Lucifer Orion Patterson of Greeley, CO; brother, Joe Patterson and wife, Shirley and sister, Amanda Barnes all of Lawrence, Kansas.

Cremation was chosen and the family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, March 9, 2025 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook.
