George Henry Miller

George Henry Miller was born on February 23, 1935 to Herman and Lenore (Dappen) Miller on the farm in northwest Hayes County, Nebraska. He graduated from Hayes County High School in 1952 and attended one semester at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. George served in the United States Army from 1959-1961. George grew up farming and taking care of everyone and everything that he could. He enjoyed visiting with people everywhere that he went. On May 27, 1977, George married Jean (Beezley) Jennings at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Hayes Center. Jeans daughter, Beth, joined the family also. George served on several committees in Hayes County. He served as a Hayes County District 3 Commissioner for 12 years. During that time, in 2004, George suffered a stroke. With the strong support of the road crew in District 3, he overcame the stroke and went back to farming and being a commissioner. George retired from farming in 2008. Due to failing health, George moved to the El Dorado Manor in Trenton, Nebraska on January 3, 2020. He passed away late Saturday evening, December 17, 2022 at the El Dorado Manor. He was 87 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Lenore Miller. Survivors include his wife, Jean Miller of Hayes Center; daughter, Beth Anderson and husband, Chris of McCook; brothers, Jerry Miller of Hayes Center and Johnny Miller and wife, Rachel of McCook; grandchildren: Shonda Jacob, Devin Jacob, and Izaiah Jacob all of McCook; great-grandgirls, Summer Knight, Stormi Knight, Lilli Knight, and Mckenzi Jacob; special friend and protg, Ben Maucher and family; as well as several friends and extended family. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 26, 2022 from 10AM-5PM at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Funeral services will be at 11AM, Tuesday morning, December 27, 2022 at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Hayes Center with Pastor Jean Miller officiating. Interment to follow at the Hayes Center Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in George's name. Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com.
